On October 17, 2024, between 14:00 and 15:00, an event was held attended by students from the Faculty of Health Sciences. The event began with a speech by Asst. Prof. Nurten ELKİN, Head of the Department of Child Development. ELKİN briefly explained the effects of screen exposure on children's health and then handed the floor to the trainer, Research Assistant Rabia Ceren ATEŞ.
ATEŞ discussed the impacts of screens on child development, highlighting that excessive exposure to inappropriate content from an early age can lead to developmental issues, musculoskeletal problems, language development challenges, obesity, insufficient sleep, and physical inactivity. She emphasized the importance of monitoring "Content and Duration" in children's technology use. ATEŞ also addressed the effects of screens on language development, noting that children exposed to violence on screen may become desensitized to violence, develop tolerance toward it, and exhibit imitative behaviors. Case studies related to screen exposure were conducted with participants, followed by workshop activities. The event concluded with feedback from the students.
On December 12, 2024, the "Healthy Development Platform" event was organized in collaboration with the Addiction Prevention Coordination Unit and the Office of the Dean of Students. As part of the platform, a workshop titled "Adolescents and Family" was conducted.
The workshop titled “Being Protected First” was held by IGU Addiction Fighting Coordinator and Head of Child Development Department of Health Sciences Faculty, Asst. Prof. Nurten ELKİN in cooperation with the Dean of Students.
A workshop on "Peer Bullying" was organized under the Healthy Development Platform in collaboration with the Department of Child Development and the Student Dean's Office at Istanbul Gelişim University.

The event, organized in collaboration with Klaipeda State University, shared important insights on the contributions of emotional intelligence to child development.
