Addiction Education Held at Atatürk Contemporary Life Multi-Program Anatolian High School


Istanbul Gelisim University Coordinator of Combating Addiction Assist. Dr. Nurten ELKİN from the Faculty of Health Sciences and Assist. Dr. Talat SARIKAVAK, a member of the Ministry of National Education, gave training on "Combating Addiction" and "Smoking and Technology Addiction" to the students of Atatürk Contemporary Life Multi-Program Anatolian High School.


In her speech, Assist. Dr. Nurten ELKİN defined addiction and that addiction is a health problem that concerns not only individuals but also their families and the whole environment; He also stated that a multidisciplinary approach is necessary for the solution of addiction, which is a biopsychosocial disease. She also defined the addiction cycle and that this cycle may differ for each individual; She drew attention to the importance of protection before treatment and rehabilitation in addictions, as in all health problems. She defined healthy lifestyle behavior and healthy lifestyle behaviors; physical activity, healthy nutrition, health responsibility, self-actualization and personal development, and stress management. By stating that staying away from unhealthy behaviors of individuals is effective in increasing the quality of life and prolonging the healthy life span, she concluded his speech with the wish of a life full of healthy life behaviors free from addictions to the students.

In his speech, Assist. Dr. Talat SARIKAVAK emphasized the concepts of commitment and dependence, emphasizing that there is will in addiction and that this will is lost in addiction.
